Speaker Bio
Dr. Siddharth Bhandari is the Associate Director of Research of the Construction Safety Research Alliance. He received his PhD in Civil Engineering in 2019, MS in Civil Engineering in 2017 and BS in Civil Engineering in 2014 from the University of Colorado at Boulder.
Siddharth’s thesis, funded by the National Science Foundation and industry partners, focused on improving the current construction safety training techniques by leveraging behavioural psychology and adult learning principles critical to enhancing workers’ hazard identification, risk assessment and decision-making skills. Siddharth designed a new simulation-based multimedia safety training program, co-delivered it to over 1,500 construction workers, and used multivariate data analysis techniques to validate the practical application of psychological and learning theories within the construction domain.
Siddharth received the Best Paper Award at the 2015 5th International/11th Construction Specialty Conference in Vancouver, Canada. Siddharth’s research expertise exists at the nexus of human factors engineering, behavioural psychology, safety climate and adult learning to improve safety and productivity on construction sites. He has also received the ELECTRI International’s Early Career Award 2019 to develop an empirically validated tool to measure situational awareness, human factors performance and safety climate in real-time on construction sites.
