Nidal is a husband and a father of four who currently serves in the capacity of Senior Director of Health, Safety, and Environmental for Bird Construction’s Civil Infrastructure, Industrial Construction, Renewable Energy and Maintenance divisions. Nidal is based out of Edmonton, Alberta.

Nidal’s experience crosses industrial and commercial markets and a broad range of services, including civil works, industrial buildings, environmental infrastructure and process scopes across Canada.

After graduating from the NAIT Construction Engineering Technology (CET) program in 2004, Nidal began his HSE journey. After spending some time in the manufacturing world, Nidal joined Bird and has been part of the Bird team since January 2007. In addition to his CET Diploma, Nidal graduated from the University of Alberta Faculty of Extension with Distinction in Occupational Health and Safety, and successfully obtained his CRSP in 2009, which is still held in good standing.
Nidal is a fan of leadership-based material and strongly believes in the saying “Everything Rises and Falls on Leadership.” Nidal has a passion for recognizing hazardous energy and implementing direct controls, as he believes this will be a key factor in preventing SIF-related incidents.
