Keynote: How Humans Perform
Date & Time
Thursday, April 30, 2026, 10:30 AM - 11:30 AM
Dr. Todd Conklin
Description

In this session, Dr. Todd Conklin challenges traditional thinking about human error, accountability and performance. Drawing from the principles of Human & Organizational Performance (HOP), this talk reframes how organizations understand people, systems and leadership.

Participants will leave with the ability to:

Understand why human error is normal and predictable — and why treating it as a root cause limits improvement.

Recognize how context shapes behavior. Time pressure, resource constraints, production demands, and organizational messaging all influence performance.

Identify the gap between work-as-imagined and work-as-done — and use that gap as a powerful source of learning.

Shift from blame to curiosity. Learn practical ways to respond to failure that increase reporting, transparency and long-term improvement.

Strengthen system performance through leadership influence. Discover how leaders shape the conditions in which people succeed or struggle.

This session equips leaders with practical, actionable insights to improve performance, enhance learning, and build more resilient organizations — without relying on fear, control or oversimplified solutions.
