We often focus on soft forms of power in safety, such as culture, climate and behaviour. Does this overlook the importance of more complex forms of power, such as organizational structure, reporting lines and decision authority?  

In this session, we will explore:  

• What we mean by structure in organizations and why it matters. 
• Different ways of organizing safety within organizations, the merits and limitations of each.  
• Tools for organization design, including Target Operating Models. 
• Power and decision authority and how to deploy it. 
• Reflections and comparisons from different functions. 

The workshop will be immersive, and participants will learn by doing. It is also practical, and attendees will leave with richer knowledge and be enabled to consider how the power and structure play a direct role in your safety program.
